This’s weekend, the Wisconsin chapter of Hometown Hero Outdoors hosted 11 vets, one vet wife , one field staff’s father-in-law, and 4 Field Staff in the Atomic Ice Derby in LaCrosse, Wi.
Despite the Arctic temperatures at midnight when the event kicked off, everyone headed out. The fishing was slow, we had to work through some hiccups, but everyone left with a smile and some with prizes.
We would like to thank the following for making this happen; Scott Gartner and the entire Atomic Staff, the staff at Island Outdoors, the staff at Moxie's, Dan Deicher and Days Inn Motel, Shawn’s parents Sharon and Jerry Seubert, Spitzfire Jigs by Northstar Tackle, Rod's Ride On Powersports for providing a brand new 4wheeler for transport, Tom Joslyn for sponsoring 7 of the vets, Lawrence Holicky for his extensive hours of scouting and finally Shawn’s wife Stacy for bringing the donuts and coffee out to the ice today. Planning is already underway for next years derby.
