On 06.11.2019 Wood County Sheriff's Department Wisconsin deputies experienced an officer involved shooting. One deputy was shot during the altercation, luckily he was able to make a full recovery. We are honored to have been able to be involved in the healing process by sending his family on a chartered fishing trip. Below is what Cory had to say about it.
"June 11, 2019 will be a day I’ll never forget. A welfare check on a suicidal subject was the call. It turned into an OIS and during the course of this incident, I was shot, resulting in a severely broken right arm. About a week after getting released from the hospital, I received a call from a member of Hometown Hero Outdoors. This gentleman explained they were setting up a charter fishing trip for my 2 sons, fiancé, and I. I needed several months to recover but once I had enough strength, we were on the water catching salmon and trout. Hometown Hero Outdoors set everything up, only thing we had to do with show up at the boat. Thank you Hometown Hero Outdoors, you are a wonderful organization."
